RYA Youth Sailing Scheme- Stage 2
Course Description
Following on from RYA Stage 1, this course is designed to give you further confidence and build on your Stage 1 skills. You will learn more about controlling the direction and speed of your boat and develop your competence in light and moderate wind conditions. Tuition takes place in single-handed boats under the supervision of an RYA, fully qualified instructor. Our friendly instructors will be with you every step of the way, offering clear guidance and encouragement in a safe and fun environment.
RYA Youth Sailing - Stage 2
The course will cover:
Basic Sailing skills
Tacking
Boat speed control
Ropework
Collision avoidance
Duration: 2 full days or spread over 16 hours
Previous Experience
You should have a basic knowledge and steering ability to Stage 1 standard to join this course.
Minimum Age - 8
On completion of the Stage 2 course, you will be able to tack and control boat speed and have a basic understanding of the principles of sailing. You will be well on the way to becoming a competent sailor.
Next Steps
You should now try to practice the skills that you have learnt. Try to get out onto the water as much as possible. When you feel ready to learn some more then you can book onto our Stage 3 course. This course builds on the Stage 2 content and will teach you how to sail in a greater variety of situations. Your instructor can give you more information about this course.
